“I enjoy the opportunity to make the law work for my clients and to generate productive and cost effective outcomes. I endeavor to exceed my client’s service expectations”
What do I do?
I come from a background of general practice, but in recent years my work has focused on property and business law (acquisitions, sales and financing), relationship property, estate planning, trusts and asset management.
I like that mix of work because it involves on-going contact with my clients, advising on major decisions, celebrating their triumphs and helping them through the difficult times.
What do I enjoy about what I do?
I enjoy working with good people, helping them to plan and formalising the deals they make. I also enjoy the opportunity to make the law work and to help my clients to plan and create effective solutions.
What have I done in the past?
I have been a lawyer all my adult life apart from being a fitter’s mate, warehouseman and a UK publican in my early years. I have been an associate partner in larger firms, but I am more comfortable in a smaller environment working with people who share my values and gain the same satisfaction as I do from our clients’ successes.
What do I do outside my work?
Being a Sandringham local with a young family it is great to “think global and work local”. In the weekends, you can most often find me providing a taxi service for kids sport, opening the bowling for the Parnell Cricket Club presidents or catching up with my recordings from the History Channel and my chores. I am currently a member of the Property Law Committee of the Auckland District Law Society.
What would I do if I wasn’t a lawyer?
If my body and family permitted (fairly big conditions I know!) a professional cricketer specializing in death bowling or alternatively an intelligence officer based in Hawaii given my interest in military history and water sports.
